Created by Juliu Horvath, The Gyrotonic Method is an original and unique movement method that addresses the entire body, opening energy pathways, stimulating the nervous system, increasing range of motion and creating functional strength.

Gyrotonic exercise sequences are composed of spiraling, circular movements which flow together seamlessly in rhythmic repetitions with corresponding breath patterns. Each movement flows into the next, allowing the joints to move through a natural range of motion without jarring or compression. These carefully crafted sequences create balance, efficiency, strength and flexibility in your body.

In Gyrotonic exercise, we use specialized equipment.

The body is naturally designed to work as one harmonious system, to follow arcing and spiraling paths of motion and to transition from one movement to the next smoothly and efficiently. The specialized line of Gyrotonic equipment supports these natural movement patterns.

Sophisticated adjustments allow me to customize the equipment to the ideal setting for your unique physique, adapting for things such as height, arm and leg length, natural range of motion and physical ability.

The GYROKINESIS® Method

In 1977, Juliu Horvath developed the principles behind the GYROKINESIS® method through an intensive yoga practice and study into the inner workings of the body. Through his personal journey, he created a new movement practice, originally called “Yoga for Dancers” and now known as Gyrokinesis exercise.

This movement system addresses the entire body, opening energy pathways, stimulating the nervous system, increasing range of motion and creating functional strength through rhythmic, flowing movement sequences.

Gyrokinesis exercise does not require any specialized equipment and is ideal for home or online practice.

Classes start with self-massage and simple breathing patterns to awaken the body. Seated on low stools, the class mobilizes the spine through a series of arching, curling, bending, twisting, and spiraling motions. These same movement patterns are expanded to release the hips, legs, and feet. More advanced classes add endurance training to prepare bodies for more strenuous activities. The class encompasses not only sitting but also kneeling, lying and standing positions.

I adapt each private Gyrokinesis session to fit your needs and abilities, whether you are recovering from injury, living with a disability, or preparing for a performance or competition.
